AUBURN, Maine –Skelton Taintor & Abbott shareholder Norman J. Rattey will be one of three presenters at the National Business Institute’s day-long program titled Handling the Sale of a Business. It takes place on February 10, 2017 at the Fireside Inn & Suites in Portland.
Designed for attorneys, accountants, enrolled agents, paralegals, lenders and loan officers, the program will provide attendees thorough perspective on the acquisition process. Participants will become better informed about the various methods of business valuation as well as tax structures. Continuing education credits are available for attorneys, bankers and accountants.
Rattey will present the sessions Structuring and Drafting the Purchase and Sale Agreement and Ethics in Business Acquisitions. In the first session he will discuss topics such as the goals of the purchaser and seller, negotiation of the purchase and sale agreement, representations and warranties, closing issues and post-closing issues. He will also review financing. In the second session, Rattey will go over ethical issues such as conflicts of interest and confidentiality.
