Auburn, Maine –Skelton Taintor & Abbott attorney, Amy Dieterich will present at a LA Metro Chamber’s seminar titled Family Medical Leave – What You Need to Know on September 17, 2019.
Some of the trickiest issues that HR managers face on a daily basis are employee requests for time off due to illness. Sometimes an employee needs time off due to their own illness while other times it may be a family member’s illness that takes an employee out of work. What questions can employers ask in those situations? Can an employer ask for documentation of the illness? How long can an employee be out of work for medical leave? Do employers have to leave the employee’s position vacant while they are out on leave? What if an employee doesn’t know when he or she will be back to work? What if an employer receives information suggesting that the employee isn’t really sick? The seminar takes place on September 17, 2019 from 12:00pm – 1:30pm at the LA Metro Chamber, 415 Lisbon Street, Lewiston, and will provide guidance for employers on these and other common issues and questions that arise when an employee needs time out of work due to illness.
This program is part of the LA Metro Chamber’s Professional Development Series, for which the Chamber charges a registration fee of $25 for members and $50 for non-members. To register, contact the Chamber at 207-783-2249, or register online at www.lametrochamber.com
