Sarah Mitchell is a shareholder and president of the firm of Skelton Taintor & Abbott in Lewiston, Maine. Sarah’s practice concentrates in Family Law, and includes assisting clients in all of the following areas:

She represents family law clients throughout southern, central, and mid-coast Maine. Sarah is a rostered Guardian ad litem and accepts appointments as such in Courts throughout the State of Maine. She also acts as a Referee and conducts private mediation. She is a Fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and has been selected for inclusion in Maine Super Lawyers® – Rising Stars Edition, 2010-2012. Sarah was recognized by Best Lawyers in America© 2018 through 2023 for her work in Family Law. Sarah has presented at various Maine State Bar Association continuing legal education seminars on various topics, including advanced financial issues in divorce and the use of alternative dispute resolution in family law.

Sarah is a member of the Androscoggin County Bar Association, the Women’s Law Section, and Family Law Section of the Maine Bar Association. She served on the Board of Directors of the Maine Bar Foundation, and served on the Board of Directors for many years of the Children’s Museum & Theater of Maine in Portland, Maine. Sarah is currently the District Five (Androscoggin) Representative for the Maine State Bar Association’s Board of Governors.
Sarah received her J.D. from the University of Maine School of Law with honors in trial advocacy. She received her undergraduate degree from Boston University and began her law school career at Suffolk University Law School in Boston before relocating to Maine.
Raised in Lexington, Massachusetts, Sarah relocated to Maine during law school. She was previously an associate with Skelton Taintor & Abbott and a partner in another law firm before rejoining Skelton Taintor & Abbott in 2013.
